“It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend.” (Psalm 55:12-13 NLT)
Domestic violence is an epidemic rampage of satan against the basic unit of the Church, the family. The family is God’s holy idea of what a Godly life is supposed to be. Now, the family is terrorized from out of its very foundation. The essence of family is love. The heart, soul, and spirit of a family is the bond established by God to manifest His perfect and true love, His unconditional love. However, love, the very core of a family, has been deviously used to manipulate, coerce, and abuse family members.
Violence in many countries is a crime. More importantly, believers need to know that domestic violence is evil. It is an atrocity, an abomination, a sin, and a heinous work of the devil. Batterers must know what they are doing is a catastrophic sin and victims must know that God does not expect them to live in abusive homes or tolerate abusive relationships.
James 3:16 reminds us that,”For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” Domestic violence is a reflection of all kinds of evil work and it leaves its victims (family members( totally confused. God does not want children to be raised in abusive homes. It is a direct contradiction of His very being: love, because God is love.
